ParadiseFound offers small group instruction in drawing, painting, and ceramic sculpture. Classes include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. All classes have limited enrollment to permit personalized instruction and give each student a sense of direction in their work.
Kids deserve more than arts & crafts - so we developed a program which gives them the opportunity to explore a variety of real art media in a creative setting. We encourage children to learn, exercise their imaginations and have fun through challenging yet age-appropriate concepts.
Our Fall & Winter Classes in Drawing, Painting & Sculpture are 28 weeks in duration running from September to May. Programs for Children ages 6 - 11 are 1-1/2 hours in length, and focus on the fundamentals of art. The Advanced Program is 2 hours in length and challenges children ages 8 - 11 with more complex concepts. Members of the Teen Art Program focus on observation and composition skills while developing ideas according to personal interests.
Each Spring we offer a 7 week Drawing, Painting & Making Program for ages 6 - 12. Classes take place after school and Saturdays and give students the opportunity to try a variety of art media and techniques.
The Art Camp is Winnipeg's premier Summer art program. Our week-long day programs are intended for children ages 6 - 14 who love art. Take advantage of Summer and get inspired by a variety of artistic opportunities.
Club Paradise is our Summer Art Intensive. It combines the excitement of a wilderness getaway with with our state-of-the-art studio. Challenging projects involving local landscapes will kindle your child's creative spirit and spark their artistic passion.
Discovery can be bringing together elements from your environment in a way which reveals a new way of looking at things. It can be doubting existing conventions. It can mean creation. Discovery is something that we all can achieve, we just use different materials and means to do it.
The intent of Discover was to create an actual public work of art - a sculpture intended not for a coffee table or the top of a TV set, but for all the world to enjoy. Public art is a risky business. Even Winnipeg has had its share of Tilted Arc controversies. The original (and less flattering) sculpture of Louis Riel, originally next to the Manitoba Legislative Building, is now artfully hidden behind St. Boniface College, next to a parking lot. Others have met an even less noble fate.
Discover is an installation more than a sculpture: it is site-specific and permanent. It represents 13 years of asking challenging questions, trying different approaches, making changes and growing. The challenge for us is to never repeat the same project twice. The key which we teach our students is to always remain positive and self-confident. Even when you aren't sure what the final product will be. Although you have to focus on the task at hand, a part of you has to stay open to the unexpected.
In our art school, each student is unique, and each takes a different approach to discovery. Hopefully, gazing at this installation will give them that 'Eureka' moment. This sculpture is created by and dedicated to the enthusiasm, energy and imagination of the students of Paradise Found.
